When ever someone mentions the name Wal-Mart most people associates it with low prices and affordable goods. Although this big business corporation may be customer friendly, they treat their employees terrible. While reading a chapter in Nickled and Dimed by Barbra Ehnreneich she told what is was like to work for Wal-mart. They do not care for their employee's as a business should. Employees are looked at as replaceable and not an asset to the company. The workers were basically robots when they were working. Ehnreneich and her fellow employees are considered "time thieves" if they talk to each other during shifts. In a work place environment you expect people to talk so they can complete their work more efficiently .Ehrenreich felt like she was neglected as a worker. She did not enjoy working for Wal-Mart due to the low wages, long hours, and feeling like she had to be a robot at work. But who in there right mind would want to work for a company that locked their employee's in one of their many establishments? I know I would not want to work for them. When someone hires me I want to be treated like a human and get payed a decent salary that will provide for me and family.

The American Dream
I agree with him partially when he says that to believe in the American dream you have to be asleep. I agree partially because in this day and age the "American Dream" is something that you can only dream of for most people, and the fact everyone's definition can be different. In my opinion there is a very small percentage of people who have made the American Dream happen. Those people turn out to be the rich people, or well paid persons. People that think they achieved the American Dream are really in denial, nothing has been achieved. Then again everyone's definition of the American Dream can differ. I'm pretty sure all immigrants come to the US with some dream in mind. Nine times out of ten that dream is to start in a new country and make a better life for their family. Most are able to provide for their family and get them to better schools but is it more to their dream than that? I honestly don't believe in the American Dream because the way things are going you are always going to have to work just to make ends meet because the prices of things are always going up and SSI is being taken away slowly but surely. Since I really don't believe in the American Dream I believe in working hard and doing what's best for me, because I don't need a big house and a fancy yard 2.5 kids and a white picket fence. What's your American Dream folk reading this?

Class and Education.
Since high school I have been a Certified Nursing Assistant/ Geriatric Nursing Assistant (CNA/GNA). I have worked in a hospital and a nursing home since I received my certification from the Maryland Board of Nursing in 2012. When I worked at University of Maryland Medical Center I was always treated in a kind manner and with respect even though I was only senior at Edmondson West-Side High School. At the UMMC my education level would have mattered for the job I was doing, but I got the job as a intern through a program at my school call Baltimore Alliance for Careers in Health which is also know as BACH. If I actually wanted the position I needed a GED or high school diploma and certification from the Maryland Board of Nursing. As a nurse or nursing assistant education is key for your job because you are only allowed to complete certain tasks that are in your scope of practice. That basically means you are only allowed to do things you were taught and certified to do. For certain jobs I do think that the level of education matters. I mean would you want someone to operate on you if they never finished medical school. For most people knowing that their doctor or lawyer has all of their degrees makes them feel comfortable and better about going to them. In my opinion your wage nor respect should be determined by your level of education. Your wage should be determined by the difficulty of your work load or maybe how hard you actually work. As far as respect goes there are two sayings that state "treat others the way you want to be treated" and "you don't give respect you earn it" Although the second quote seem more geared towards every day life it still can work in the work place in some cases. The bottom line is that no matter what your education level may be respect is not a thing for the people who think they are superior to someone else it is meant for everyone.

First Impression
This beautiful young lady is Amber Ortiz. She is a sophmore here at Cedar Crest College and is majoring in Pyschology. Amber is just like any normal teenage girl. In her down time she loves to listen to music and sing in her room. Although she thinks she doesn't sound that great when she sings she loves to do it anyway. Amber hails from Millville, New Jersey and claims to have seen some intersting and concerning things in her home town such as violence in her neighborhood and the children of this generation acting crazy. Back in New Jersey she has five sibilings which includes three brothers and two sisters. Amber has a love interest but she wouldnt tell me who. Here at college
she sticks to herself and talks to
very few because she does not want to be in any of the drama that happens here
at CCC.
